Poison Control Centers are getting lots of calls about the newwarning that's printed on tubes of fluoride toothpaste.

The warning tells people to seek professional assistance orcontact a Poison Control Center if they swallow more than a BRUSHFULof fluoride toothpaste. This is now required because federalagencies list fluoride as a toxic substance.

But toxicologists say people would have to swallow a wholeTUBE of toothpaste to cause fluoride toxicity. Acute fluoridetoxicity causes nausea...vomiting...and diarrhea.
